Weston Coppola Cage, the son of Academy Award-winner Nicolas Cage, was reportedly arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in Los Angeles.
The 33-year-old was taken into custody Wednesday and released on $150,000 bond, according to People. The arrest reportedly stems from an incident that occurred several months ago.
Cage’s arrest is believed to be linked to a battery report taken by police in May involving the suspect’s mom, Christina Fulton, who told the celebrity publication her son suffered a “mental-health breakdown” that turned into a “horrific experience.”
People couldn’t confirm the arrest was connected to that experience.
That confrontation reportedly became physical, but no arrests were made at the time. TMZ posted photos of Fulton’s badly discolored face shortly after the incident occurred. She appeared to have several bruises and a black eye.
Fulton, 57, is a former model who’s appeared in films including 1998’s “Snake Eyes” starring Nicolas Cage. Their son, a musician who’s landed a few acting roles, worked with his famous father on the 2005 film “Lord of War.”
Nicolas Cage talked to the New Yorker about having two adult sons and a 2-year-old daughter — all with different mothers.
“Every child is different,” he said in that interview published Monday. “There’s a different kind of level of attention.”
